Yoshizumi is the classic mad scientist obsessed with creating life, immortality and all that stuff. He created golems from pieces of corpses ala Frankenstein. The two main golems featured on the anime are "Golem-chan", a young golem girl, and "Chainsaw" a tall golem man with a chainsaw. These golems don't have official names but Snow and Mikari came up with nicknames for them.

The golem experiments were to find the corpse release spell, the secret of immortality, for which Yoshizumi held Shito hostage. Yoshizumi also created Phalanx; a strong green blob with many hands, lacking rational thought, which he claims is the ultimate creature.

He eventually fused with Phalanx, becoming its brain, when Carmella informed him of the changes in his fate regarding his possible death in the near future. Phalanx was dissolved by an antidote which Nogi gave to Ohtsu, and Yoshizumi died, as confirmed by Carmella, who mentions he could not escape his fate.

Nogi had been one of Ohtsu's medical professors in the past, but later he joined Yoshizumi in his illegal experiments to create golems. While Yoshizumi was the master mind behind the golems, Nogi had the task of collecting materials to build the golems by stealing body parts from the corpses autopsied. Nogi was afraid of Yoshizumi and how far the experiments were going. He knew that there were suspicions about their strange research and worried that they would get caught.

When Ohtsu discovered Nogi stealing body parts, Nogi ultimately confessed, which served as a clue for Z-Loan. Fearful of Yoshizumi going too far, Nogi even made an antidote for Phalanx, Yoshizumi's ultimate monster, which he entrusted to Z-Loan. Thanks to the antidote, Phalax, who was fused with Yoshizumi as its brain, was defeated.

Nogi is also responsible for the death of Golem-chan. He called it cleaning up when he shot her, trying to destroying all the evidence of the experiments. Shito beat him up badly for killing Golem-chan, but Nogi survived.

Toho is an exorcist from the XuFu, a gang from China. He claims Shito is a monster and has the power to subdue undead beings including golems and zombies. He was sent to find Shito after his disappearance due to the bus accident which ended up with Shito and Chika switching hands.

He is aware of the truth of Shito's origins and may have important information concerning the corpse release spell. He treats most of the Z-loan team as inferior, but leaves Shito with them for the time being.
