Ohtsu's a Punk! This is all the proof we need (1st pic). He's got short hair, awesome sunglasses and carries himself in a manner that says "Don't mess with me, or I'll mess you up!". Ohtsu is an older member of the Z-Loan group; he uses his day job as a way to gather information for his Z-Loan job. Is he a punk? Someone says that he looks like punk, but is really a nice guy.

Actually, I (Snow) agree and I have proof he's not just any punk. Nope, Ohtsu is much more than that, he's an Insta-Punk. At any moment he could turn complete punk on you. Maybe it's just me, but I would not want to meet him in a dark alley. He looks like he might be dangerous, and he does have an aura that says "don't talk to me" (2nd pic) and that could be why I feel for the poor guy. This could be why I'm defending him. Let's face it, Ohtsu, you're not really a punk (3rd pic).

Yeah, he wears glasses. Not just any glasses, transitions. That sort of takes from his Mr. ManlyUberPUNK image, doesn't it? For real though? Ohtsu gets annoyed with constant jabbering and childishness. His irritation can make him say mean things or act somewhat harshly, but he is not a punk.

Overall, I'd say Ohtsu's just like the rest of us when we have to deal with a lot of loud kids. He tends to go out of his way to help people. After all, he did drive the entire group to the mountains and then returned to work rather than staying to enjoy a vacation. He then drove all the way back to get them.

I just use the term Insta-Punk because he has transition glasses, so he's a nice guy who happens to wear some pretty cool sunglasses. To me (Snow) finding out he wore glasses all the time rather than sunglasses made him seem soft. Sorry Ohtsu, but we still love you!

Michiru

michiru michiru

We've seen it in Avatar: The Last Airbender, we've seen it in Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit, and it's been used in many other stories... What I'm talking about is a character getting their hair cut off or cutting it soon after moving away from a certain place or alliance. The hair is supposed to be symbolic, cutting the hair is a way to let go of the past or a symbol of banishment.

In Michiru's case it might have just been a coincidence that one of her long pigtails was cut off when a zombie was trying to cut her up, but I think there's also some symbolism in there. After Michiru moves out of her aunt and uncle's house she finds Shito and Chika, then borrows Chika's sword to cut off her remaining pigtail. The first pigtail can represent how she was pushed to leave her pessimism behind after facing death and escaping it. The second can be how she willingly left the remainders of her old life behind to start over on her own, with real will to live.
